Fort Wayne Sports Corp.'s 2013 "Party in the Park" Raises Over $12,000 for Charis House - 2014 Event Date Set

Former Fort Wayne Sports Corporation’s (FWSC) president, Tiffany Gooden, presented to Pastor Donovan Coley of The Fort Wayne Rescue Mission/Charis House a check for over $12,000 on September 12, 2013. The check represented a portion of the money raised at the FWSC’s annual “Party in the Park III” event, held on February 1, 2013 at Parkview Field and hosted by former Seattle Mariners Manager Eric Wedge. Charis House is a part of the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission that provides assistance to homeless women and children. Over the last three years, the FWSC has raised funds from its annual event and distributed a percentage to area non‐profit organizations, such as the Red Cross of Northeast Indiana and Charis House, while retaining a share for its own civic activities and projects.

"The Rescue Mission truly appreciates the ongoing partnership of people like Mr. Eric Wedge, who selflessly
give back to their community. Fort Wayne Sports Corp's "Party in the Park" event is illustrative of the good
that still exists in our community. On behalf of the many men, women and children we serve who are
facing a homeless crisis, we thank all who made this annual event a success," remarked Pastor Donovan.
Ms. Gooden also commented, “I am honored to have served as the President of the Fort Wayne Sports
Corp. for the past two years and to have the opportunity to support our mission while also assisting
organizations like The Rescue Mission/Charis House, which serve an important purpose in this community.”
Although Gooden’s term as president of the FWSC expired in September, she remains active on the
Executive Committee of the organization.

This year’s FWSC event proceeds were generated from the over 300 Party in the Park attendees who
participated in the silent and live auctions of sports memorabilia and gift items, which included a trip to
Seattle with tickets to a Mariner’s baseball game. Funds were also provided by many gracious local area
sponsors of the event.

The FWSC recently announced that the date of the 2014 “Party in the Park IV” event is set for Friday,
February 7th, and will remain at Parkview Field.

The 2014 Party in the Park IV fund‐raiser event is open to the public and will be located in the main suite
overlooking Parkview Field. Eric Wedge will again host the cocktail party‐type event that features the live
and silent auction of sports memorabilia and other gift items, while also recognizing local sports
contributors and organizations. In addition, attendees can rub elbows with local sports greats who will be
in the crowd as part of the night’s festivities.
