Fort Wayne Sports Corporation (FWSC) president, Adam Henry, presented to Rachel Tobin-Smith of SCAN a check for $10,000 at the local HQ for the organization on October 26, 2015.  The check was a contribution on behalf of The Eric and Kate Wedge Foundation and represented a portion of the money raised at the FWSC’s annual “Party in the Park V” event, held on February 6, 2015 at Parkview Field and hosted by former MLB manager and ESPN Baseball Analyst, Eric Wedge.  SCAN is an organization dedicated to protecting children, preparing parents, strengthening families and educating the community to Stop Child Abuse and Neglect.  Over the last three years, FWSC and Eric Wedge have raised funds from this event and distributed a significant portion to area non-profit organizations, such as the Red Cross of Northeast Indiana and Charis House, while retaining a share for FWSC’s civic activities and projects.

Eric Wedge stated, “SCAN does vital work here in Fort Wayne, my hometown.  My Wife Kate and I, on behalf of our foundation, are proud to present this donation to assist in their important mission."

"SCAN truly appreciates the ongoing partnership of people like Eric Wedge, who remain involved with their community, and the Fort Wayne Sports Corporation, a local organization striving to improve our quality of life.  Events like ‘Party in the Park’ provide a venue where citizens can enjoy their interests while giving back to their community" remarked Tobin-Smith.  Mr. Henry also commented, “As President of the Fort Wayne Sports Corp., we are privileged to work with The Eric and Kate Wedge Foundation in supporting an organization such as SCAN, which serves a vital role in maintaining healthy families within our community.”

All proceeds from Party in the Park V were generated from the nearly 300 attendees who participated in the silent and live auctions of sports memorabilia and gift items, which included Indiana Pacers and Cleveland Indians regular season game trips.  Funds were also provided by many gracious local area sponsors of the event.

The 2016 “Party in the Park VI” event date is Friday, February 12th and will remain at Parkview Field. Check out the "Join Us" section of the FWSC Web site to see event details.

As in the past, the 2016 Party in the Park VI fund-raiser event is open to the public and will be located in the main suite overlooking Parkview Field.  Eric Wedge will again host the cocktail party-type event that features the live and silent auction of sports memorabilia and other gift items, while also recognizing local sports contributors and organizations.  In addition, attendees can rub elbows with local sports greats who will be in the crowd as part of the night’s festivities.
